Look at how she's grown!!!

This picture was taken when she was 8 days old...

This was taken on May 10th at 12 weeks old...

She looks like a different baby!!!

I can't believe she's three months old already. I was looking at my Violet folder and I actually have about 500 pictures in there!! That averages out to about 5 pictures a day since she's been born. I admit to being a compulsive picture taker, but even I was suprised a little when I did the math.

I started work again last Friday. It seemed stupid to come back for one day and then have the weekend off, but that's when my maternity leave was up so I really had no choice. We went to the Intuit Family Picnic on Saturday. The company rents out The Breakers and does all sorts of stuff including food (because every event at Intuit involves food) and a casino for adults, face painting for kids and lots of other stuff. It's a lot of fun, I can't wait until she gets a little older so she can really enjoy it.

Here's Violet in her bathing suit...

And this is her after the picnic, completely worn out...

Coming back to work has been a real challenge. To start with I've been up since 3:30 am and I usually don't get her to sleep until 11....10 if we're really lucky. She went to daycare the first time on Friday. Robert has to take her in since I go to work at 6am and there isn't a daycare out there that's going to take a child at 5:15 in the morning. I think he enjoys the extra time with her anyway. This week she's actually being taken care of by Robert's mom since our daycare lady (Susan) is on vacation until Thursday. That's the only downfall of a small in home daycare, there's only one person there to take care of your kid! I feel really good about leaving Violet with Susan though. She's actually my best friend's mother-in-law. She doesn't ever have more than 4 kids at a time and she only has one other baby that's 6 months old. The rest of her kids are older. She's also a retired doctor, which is an added plus.

The breastfeeding this has been more difficult than expected returning to work. I had purchased a little Playtex double electric pump thinking I could use that for expressing at work, but unfotunately it's extremely slow and doesn't work well enough. I ended up renting a Medela Lactina pump from the brestfeeding center at St. Joeseph's hospital yesterday because I don't wnat my supply to take a dive. I'm hoping to be able to breastfeed her for the first year, so having a good pump is really important. When I picked her up from Robert's mother's house yesterday she was very fussy and clingy for the rest of the afternoon. It just makes me so sad that I'm going to miss out on all this time with her! Robert offered to give her a bottle in the mornings since I've been expressing breastmilk, but to me it's really worth getting up at 3:30 in the morning to spend the extra time with her. I guess I'll just have to live with being sleep deprived during the week. This weekend she actually slept about seven or eight hours both nights. If only I could get her to do that during the week!! I think I'm going to check out some books on sleeping/schedules this weekend at Borders. It's a good excuse to go there anyway, I love that store!!

Just one more Violet picture.....because she looks so darn cute in jeans!!

TTFN!!!

She sure is a cutie!

For sleeping/schedule books I highly recommend The No-Cry Sleep Solution.

Thanks! I had actually looked at that book one of the times I was in Borders. I think I'm going to get that one and also the Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child and see which one works best for us. This whole waking up at 3:30 am has got to stop!!
